There were two gas stations in cities across Litchfield County selling midgrade gas at the lowest price of $3.85 per gallon in the week ending Jan. 13, according to GasBuddy.com.

There are 28 gas stations in cities within Litchfield County.

The average price of midgrade gas in Connecticut was $3.63, compared to $3.69 the week before.

The U.S. government missed the mark when forecasting gas prices for 2022. A short-term outlook published early in 2022 claimed gas rates would fall, when in fact gas rates rose significantly.

The outlook once again suggested that prices would fall in 2023.

Gas data refers to the price of gas when paid for by cash, not credit. Gas stations can charge drivers more for using credit cards due to surcharge fees. This is prohibited in 10 U.S. states.

Data is accurate as of press time, but gas prices have been known to fluctuate on a daily, and even hourly, basis.
