On Sunday, Feb. 23, former Canterbury School standout Billy Batson’s current college team, the Rollins Tars, won 7-2 in their NCAA Division II baseball game against the Saint Leo Lions.
The game took place at Alfond Stadium. This was their third matchup against the Lions this season.
The Tars’ next game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at Sliwa Stadium against Embry-Riddle FL Eagles.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
The week starting Monday, Sept. 8 will feature action from these former Housatonic Valley area high school stars.
