WCSU offers March Jazzness events

DANBURY, Connecticut — Jazz music will flow through campus at Western Connecticut State University during March, and the public is invited to enjoy the smooth sounds at a Night of Jazz on Friday, March 3, 2023, and at the annual Jazz Combo on Sunday, March 5, 2023, both sponsored by the WCSU Department of Music. Additionally, WCSU hosts its Best Darn Jazz Club on Friday, Feb. 24 and March 31, 2023, sponsored by Division of Student Affairs.

A Night of Jazz on March 3 features the WCSU Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and Frankensax performing big band classics from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall in WCSU’s Visual and Performing Arts Center on 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury (Westside campus). Tickets are available online at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com for $7 (plus fees) and are $10 at the door.

Jazz Combos on March 5 features four of WCSU’s outstanding student jazz combos performing a mix of standards and original compositions and arrangements from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall. Tickets are $7 (plus fees) online at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com  and $10 at the door.

The Best Darn Jazz Club on Feb. 24 and March 31 features live jazz music in an intimate, club-like setting, light snacks and a cash bar with wine and beer for those 21 and over. The free events are held in the Wolves Den in the lower level of the Midtown campus Student Center, 181 White Street, Danbury, from 8-10 p.m.
