Joan P. Ivler’s “Art in Pieces” will be on display at the Burnham Library, 62 Main Street South, Bridgewater, CT from December 6, 2022 through January 29, 2023.
“My collages are all inspired by original works of other artists. I try to replicate lithographs, oils or just prints of these works using cut paper, colored pencils, watercolor and whatever else works. Needless to say, they aren’t exact copies since I put something of myself in each one. There are times things have been added, taken out or just moved around. Colors and patterns in some are close to the originals, and others quite altered."
"I have done Matisse, Henri Rousseau, Norman Rockwell, Edward Hopper, Gustavo Rosa and Karen Appel among others. These are very different styles of art, but all are broken down into cut and pasted PIECES."
Ivler lives in Upper Merryall and started doing her first work after taking a class given by Xenia Hodza at the Washington Arts Association in May of 2019.
Photos of the original art will be shown alongside each of the “Art in Pieces."
