This week's topic is Fall Prevention.
Falls are the most common, costly and harmful health events across care settings. They are the second leading cause of unintentional injury deaths worldwide. Falls can significantly impact an older adult's quality of life. Permanent or temporary healt outcomes can decrease mobility. Regaining one's confidence after a fall and preventing another one from happening involves a combination of practices that aren't mutually exclusive. Fall prevention can include removing tripping hazards from your home and increasing mobility with low-impact exercise. Confidence can ultimately come from knowing that we are living a safe and fulfilling life. This discussion is an interactive presentation co-sponsored by Nuvance Health of Danbury Hospital.
