Tuesday, June 07, 2022

 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Please Note: This is a virtual program via Zoom. Participants will receive a link to the program via email upon completing registration.

The United Kingdom and the Commonwealth celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in February 2022. Seventy years ago, the British media heralded the arrival of “a new Elizabethan age.” Elizabeth II remains the final link between Britain and its imperial past. This talk will highlight the personal and the political history of Elizabeth’s reign, how she navigated the post-World War II world, and the relationship between the monarchy to modern media from television to the internet. We will also discuss the Queen’s often troubled relationship with the tabloids, Royal triumphs and scandals, and what the future may hold for the next generation of monarchs.

Dr. Julie Taddeo is Research Professor of British history at University of Maryland and the author of several books on British cultural history.

FREE! Registration is required.
