Western Connecticut State University issued the following announcement on March 30.
DANBURY, CONN. — Western Connecticut State University will join fellow Connecticut State University (CSU) universities Eastern, Central and Southern, and the Connecticut Community College system, at the first Consortium Virtual Career Fair from noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. The CSU schools have partnered with CareerEco, a leading virtual platform and event management company, to produce this opportunity for employers and CSU students and alumni.
Employers from Connecticut and surrounding regions are invited to attend. Those that wish to participate in the fair can contact CSUSC@CareerEco.com and register on the CareerEco website. Students in the CSUS university and community college network can register at CareerEco.com/Events/CSUSC.
During the career fair, students will be able to: engage with potential employers through pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings, receive access to organization profiles and job postings, upload their resume and other documents for corporate representatives to view, and utilize audio and video capabilities in private interactions with organization personnel officers and head hunters. To-date, more than 100 employers are committed to participating in the event, with many more anticipated over the next three weeks.
Kathleen Lindenmayer, director of WCSU’s Career Success Center, said, “This is an excellent opportunity for employers to access students from all four Connecticut State Universities, plus more from the Community College System. Our students and graduates are entering a very dynamic employment environment where hiring is likely at least started (and possibly finished) in a fully virtual environment. Students should take advantage of the many reasons to attend: networking, jobs (summer/internships/full & part-time), interviewing practice, fair software access, video skill development, job search refinement, pitch practice, industry/sector insights, organization comparison, resume feedback and more. Employment opportunities in the virtual space also have greatly expanded since COVID as well. This is a fantastic hiring opportunity for regional and national employers to see the rich talent in the Connecticut State University system.”
