79 percent of applicants to Western Connecticut State University were admitted for fall 2018

At Western Connecticut State University, 83 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 52 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Danbury enrolled 5,642 students in fall 2018, including 5,028 in undergraduate and 614 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.6 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

74 percent of undergraduates are residents of Connecticut, and 26 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (60 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (19 percent).

The school admitted 79 percent of the 5,375 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 21 percent enrolled.
