The US Economic Development Administration awarded Newtown a grant worth $1,829,963 to help fund a project in Fairfield County.

The grant was awarded on Sept. 23. The EDA describes the grant as follows:

"This EDA investment funds sewer infrastructure improvements needed to support industry restructuring in a designated Opportunity Zone in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The project will replace sanitary mainlines, which will help create a more resilent business environment, encourage new commercial development, and help ensure the protection of a local wooded preserve. Once completed, the project will create jobs and drive economic growth."
