On Wednesday, April 9, former Danbury High School standout Gianna Iaquinto’s current college team, the Hofstra Pride, won 11-8 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the Saint Peter’s Peacocks.
The game took place at Bill Edwards Stadium. This was their first matchup against the Peacocks this season.
The Pride’s next game is scheduled for Friday, April 11 at 5 p.m. at Bill Edwards Stadium against UNC Wilmington Seahawks.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
The week starting Monday, Sept. 8 will feature action from these former Housatonic Valley area high school stars.
