Ecuadorian Cultural Celebration

Join us in the Story Corner to learn more about  Ecuadorian culture! Hear stories, sing songs, and have some colorful  fun. We will read a story together and make a craft related to  Ecuadorian culture!

Afterwards, come down to the  Plaza to watch a performance by Pureqkuna, an Ecuadorian Folkloric Dance  Group. Pureqkuna was created in 1998 by Marco Chavez with the aim of  sharing the beauty of Ecuadorian culture through folkloric dance. Pureqkuna comes from the Quechua word that means “walkers”. The group  “walks and collects the cultural wealth of Ecuador.” Pureqkuna was the  first folkloric group in the city of Danbury. It is currently composed  of young Ecuadorians from different parts of the country, who with their  different choreographies seek to rescue and keep their values, customs  and traditions alive.
